Avid readers of Athleisure Mag know that in 2018 (Issue #27), we had Ashley Busch, wife of NASCAR driver Kurt Busch as our cover. In today's episode of Bungalow SK, we chatted with her sister-in-law, Samantha Busch, wife of NASCAR driver, Kyle Busch. Samantha is known for her fashion sense, her boutique - Avant the Label, being a mom and being one of the stars of CMT's Racing Wives. We also talked about IVF and how she is helping those who are in the process of that journey as well as the importance of staying connected especially during the current times as we all do our part to #flattenthecurve and #stayathome.

We loved The Circle, Netflix Originals stripped down the elements of living in an age of social media. Viewers enjoyed watching members in an apartment getting to know one another only through what they chose to share socially.

In Love is Blind, Netflix introduces a house of men and women that are separated by gender. Each group is able to go on multiple dates in pods; however, they don't get to meet one another in person until after they propose The show continues to allow them to have a getaway where they can spend time with one another in person as well as others who also got engaged. We follow their journey through them getting married as well as the reunion show. If you have yet to watch this series which took place over 3 weeks with hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey. You walk away with understanding the power of communication as well as a supreme social experiment in seeing if love is blind.

LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE

Little Fires Everywhere stars Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington who also serve as Executive Producers of this series. This miniseries drama is based on the 2017 best selling novel of the same name by Celeste Ng. Set in Shaker Heights, Ohio in the late 1990s, we find both of these stars as two mothers from very different socioeconomic and racial backgrounds. We find that the Richardson family is perceived as a picture-perfect household whose fates suddenly become merged due to an enigmatic mother and daughter who will forever change their lives.

The series explores what it means to have the weight of secrets that are kept within and outside of families as well as what it means to have an identity and the art of creating it. It also examines what motherhood means and the ferocious nature of what it means. It also looks at what happens when you believe that following the rules will ensure that you are keeping yourself away from danger.

We're always looking for our next True Crime show to binge and for the past few weeks, we have been enjoying this 6 episode series by the team at Wondery, The Dating Game Killer.

This series approaches one of the most dangerous serial criminals that killed on the East and the West coasts while keeping a few gifts for himself, presenting himself as a photographer and even taking time to be on The Dating Game in front of a national audience!

The hosts of the show have a conversational style in presenting all the crimes, arrests and victims that were involved. They also go into depth on what motivated him and how much of a collective effort had to take place to find him as well as to ensure that he stayed in jail to pay for his crime

THE STRANGER

There are a number of sayings that reference that essentially the world is a small place and that we are more connected that not. This belief rings true throughout Netflix's The Stranger. We are introduced to a number of families within a community that seems to be an average place that one would grow up. Many of the people are pillars in their community, involved in their children's lives and have close relationships.

A stranger begins to interject herself into their lives by sharing secrets or opening the door to areas that they should look for in their lives. This knowledge which is meant to create awareness ends up uncovering lies, murders and suspicion among this community. Throughout the season as more secrets are unlocked, we find that The Stranger herself has a vested interest in their lives.

Everyone must decide how far they will go to get to the truth and how they will protect their families when the information is known. The blurred lines on behavior even extends itself to the police department as they become involved only to find that they are not left unscathed. We don't know if there will be another season, but we can't wait to see how The Stranger will continue in this community.

From USA TODAY, The Sneak focuses on a crime that took place in a small suburb of Seattle by a former football player who got a number of people to be his decoy via his ad on Craigslist. We find out about the theft, how he got away and how he was known as a football player that was talented. We learn about how he exchanged his career in sports for this heist that affects the entire town.

A number of interviews in this serialized podcast also shares those that were involved in the investigation, eyewitness accounts and the robber himself.

We enjoyed bingeing Season 1 of The Circle on Netflix which looks at the power of social media, perceptions and who we are in this game. We are introduced to contestants who live in a building who never meet each other face to face. Each player has access to a closed internet where they are able to interact with one another, create a profile and play a series of games to win the opportunity to vote others out of the house. In addition to being able to share information as a group, they can interact privately one on one as well as in groups.

As members are voted out, new people move into the house and work to integrate into the social group that has already been established. As each person leaves, they are able to meet an individual of their choosing as well as to share their final thoughts through a video. Much like Big Brother, we're able to see each contestant to get to know more about them whether they are being themselves or impersonating someone else. By the end of the show we get to know a lot about the contestants.

Coworking spaces have become a mainstay in our day to day lives whether you work from there, attend events or have meetings there. Although there are a number of options, We Work has been at the forefront of this movement. For those that are fans of Wondery's Business Wars and Business Wars Daily, they have created a mini series known as We Crashed which follows the rise and fall of this popular coworking community space.

This podcast series looks at the genesis of the company, how they trailblazed in the industry, its corporate culture and how mismanagement initiated its decline.

DISORGANIZED CRIME SMUGGLER'S DAUGHTER

If you ever wondered about what it was like for weed smugglers in the 60's to conduct their business, how they moved product across the nation as well as flying it in and out overseas, Disorganized Crime Smuggler's Daughter shares this throughout its podcast episodes. We are introduced to Rainbow Vallentine, the daughter of smugglers. We learn about her life, how she was unaware of her parent's activities until later in life and how her mother and father got into this industry.

The podcast talks about how the industry was furthered, the role of music in growing their clients, the criminalization of the industry and more. In each episode we see how this community came together to increase their business as well as the risks that they took on.

The listener also realizes that as the decades continued on, a business that was run by a trusted network began to change with new players such as the mafia and other organizations that began changing the rules and ethics of the honor code system that had been established.

We hear the first hand account of the high and lows that Rainbow Valentine's parents navigated as they took care of their familes, their disorganized crime network and the point that they finally left the business after a series of complications that took place. They also look at how new laws are alleviating issues that have existed in the US that allow people to obtain their products legally without the pitfalls that were common place years ago.

S1. E8. | ATHLEISURE KITCHEN WITH STARCHEF'S WILL BLUNT

We attended the 14th Annual StarChefs International Chefs Congress a couple of weeks ago in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This 3-day event focused on chefs and restaurateurs that we enjoy eating in their restaurants or seeing them on an array of TV programs, to supporting chefs rising in their field and some top appliance, cooking and food producers in the market. Throughout the event, we were able to enjoy a number of sessions that included pairing wines with the iconic Dinosaur BBQ, a Fried Rice Smackdown which was judged by Chef Marcus Samuelsson, Chef Edward Lee, Chef Nicole Ponesca and Christine Lee with participants that included BRAVO's Top Chef - Chef Sheldon Simeon, a discussion on West African food and educating listeners on its flavors and importance via Kith and Kin's Chef Kwame Onwuachi and a number of hands-on culinary classes as well as being able to walk the floor to try a number of treats by brands in the space. 

On today's Athleisure Kitchen, we sit down with Will Blunt, Managing Editor of StarChefs in one of the breakout rooms on the floor of the event to talk about how he came to being a part of the publication StarChefs as well as the annual event, the purpose behind StarChefs, speakers and participants he looked forward to especially seeing at the event and more. This show also has insights by Co-Creator, Writer and Executive Producer, Damon Lindelof. Together, they share and provide behind the scenes information on the 9 episodes of this season. New shows drop after the 3rd, 6th and 9th episodes.

Each episode talks about what we're watching, how things are unfolding, ties back into elements from WATCHMEN the movie as well as thoughts about why the characters interact with one another the way that they do. It also presents information on Damon's approach to how he works on programs from LOST to the importance of him taking on a number of issues and where he found the inspiration to do so.

We reconnect with CIA Officer Jack Ryan to South America where he investigates what took place. His interest threatens to uncover an expansive conspiracy which brings him and additional operatives on a mission across the globe.

THE IRISHMAN

If you didn't head to the theaters when The Irishman came out, on Nov 27th, this movie comes to Netflix and takes us through the memoirs of Frank Sheeran, a truck driver became a hitman who gets involved with mobster Russell Bufalino. Martin Scorsese's film shares Frank's story that involves secrets he kept as a loyal member of the Bufalino crime family which included his time working with Teamster Jimmy Hoffa.

In addition, a number of noted actors from Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci (who came out of unofficial retirement to be in this film), Ray Romano, Bobby Cannavale and more.

This true crime podcast hails from the largest newsroom in the southeast for hard hitting investigative reporting. We started bingeing this podcast during NYFW to catch up on the previous 6 seasons in order to get ready for the current season! This season, Bill Rankin and Christian Boone takes us through the examination of a deadly police shooting of Afghanistan war veteran Anthony Hill. We learn that he was naked and unarmed when he was gunned down in March 2015. Anthony struggled with bipolar disorder and was offered medication. Office Chip Olsen was not aware of the 26 year old's issues when he responded to a 911 call about a nude man found in his metro Atlanta apartment complex in the middle of the afternoon. The term breakdown refers to the breakdown of the story and the systems.

We are introduced to young Prince Hal from days spent drinking and gambling to his ascent to the throne of the King of England. From this throne, he has to navigate politics, betrayal, war and results of the chaos that his father created. We get a bird's eye view of what takes place inside and outside of his castle walls.

We have been a fan of Wondery's Business Wars, hosted by David D. Brown who shares the history and battle between businesses through serial episodes to dig into what made them great and in some cases who was unable to continue to compete.

With the success of this show, they recently dropped Sports Wars which is hosted by SB Nation's regular contributor, Dan Rubenstein. This looks at the rivalries that exist in sports and not just those by opposing teams! In its inaugural season that dropped this month, they started with the rivalry between Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre - quaterbacks on the Green Bay Packers. They highlight where this rivalry began, the backstory of both players as well as what was taking place as this feeling of contention continued to grow.

YOU VS WILD

Growing up, the Athleisure Mag team enjoyed reading Choose Your Own Adventure books which allowed you to select an array of choices that led you through a journey that was either successful, perilous or somewhere in between. The beauty of it is that you could continue to read this and have a number of endings that had various levels of satisfaction.

This concept has been brought into a new interactive show with Netflix and Bear Grylls . We know Bear as an outdoorsman that is military trained who goes into a number of situations in the wild whether solo or with such celebs and personalities as former president Barack Obama, Ben Stiller and Vanessa Hudgens just to name a few.

In this new series, a series of episodes focus on a mission from getting medical supplies to a remote village, sustaining yourself in a survival mission and more. As Bear goes along his journey he gives you a choice between two different situations and outlines the pros and cons of each. You select what happens and go along for the ride. You can always go back to change the ending or see all possible outcomes.

Season 5 of Bosch starts April 19th and this season he puts himself in the mix in order to uncover crimes of abuse and manipulation. With his need to bring those to justice, he also has to balance his purpose of his work with the fact that he is the sole surviving parent to his daughter Maddie.

As always, there are multiple story lines each season that take place as he continues to bring a bit of law and order in LA! If you have yet to catch up, you can binge the previous seasons in prep for the upcoming dynamic season.

Earlier this month, we attended the launch of Season 3 of The Burger Show, sponsored by no-contract wireless service provider, SIMPLE Mobile. This season launched on March 5th on First We Feast’s YouTube channel with 6 episodes, highlighting the history of burgers through the celebration of innovation within the industry.

To kick off its season, Chef Alvin Cailin of EggSlut and NYC's The Usual located at the Nolitan Hotel - unveiled his latest cheeseburger "The Transformer" (a mixture of a Oklahoma fried onion burger and a Tennessee deep-fried patty, blanketed by Connecticut-style crispy cheese) to foodies while enjoying the premier episode with Tony Hawk which was projected on a massive screen outside of the restaurant across the street. Chef Cailin loves that he can translate his love for burgers into this series. Unlike the first two seasons, viewers will enjoy seeing burger culture across the US, whether Chef Cailin is remaking iconic burgers from Shake Shack or In-N-Out or he is making creations with a number of his celeb friends and tastemakers. It's worth noting that fans won't have to wait too long for Season 4 as this will debut later on this year with new burgers to explore and to create!
