Last week, Michael Kors presented his 40th Anniversary Show which included a number of iconic models such as Naomi Campbell, Alek Wek, Helena Christensen and Liya Kebede. In addition, Bella Hadid, Precious Lee and Paloma Elsesser were walking as well. This show took place in the Theatre District as the models who have been known to walk the designer’s show, showcased his collection on 45th street and made their way to the Shubert Theater with Rufus Wainwright performing. COVID-19 protocols were used in creating this production and as the models enjoyed the show, they maintained 6ft distance between one another.
The show commemorates 40 years of his fashion while also being an homage to the city of New York and sharing iconic places such as Sardi’s the designers favorite pre-theater restaurant. In place of the portraits that line the walls there, they Zoomed in personalities such as Billy Porter, Chita Rivera and Bette Midler, who are known to have their pictures there. For Versace’s SS21 show, we are taken on a journey to Versacepolis where Medusa was at one time, one of the most beautiful women in Athens. Athena saw her beauty and in a rage, scolded and banished her to her current home of Versacepolis. This utopian space was created and is inhabited by stong and confident women and men who are known for their courage and strength. The show takes place underwater and explores the ocean floor and the fantasy of fun pieces that take you from day to night are presented. The show reflects nature, athleticism, seduction and fantasy against a backdrop of dreamy, positive, optimistic and vibrant hues.

Looking forward, fashion is always ahead and today', we’re sharing #BALMAINFW21 #BALMAINABOVEANDBEYOND which is getting all of us into full-on wanderlust which includes planning trips to destinations unknown, boarding flights, packing and more. Balmain’s Designer and Creative Director Olivier Rousteing said, “I don’t know where we’re going, but I do know that we are going somewhere. The point is not the destination but the actual going; the journey, the leaving—and the escape.” We couldn’t agree more with this sentiment and have shared some of our favorite looks from this runway show above and having included the show in its entirety below.

As warmer weather continues, we’re excited to add a number of looks into our wardrobe as it feels like the world is literally our runway after this past year. We loved Balmain’s SS21 show and had to share a number of our favorite looks as well as the entire show. What always makes us excited for this brand is the fact that it’s various elements of the athleisure lifestyle from looks that one would wear to run errands, have brunch, a night out, visiting galleries and more. This season, we’re loving the exaggerated shoulders, cutouts and slits that exist across menswear and womenswear.
Balmain Designer and Creative Director, Olivier Rousteing said, “I wanted the #BALMAINSS21 show to reflect the optimism and audacity built into Balmain’s DNA. When Monsieur Pierre Balmain founded the house after France’s liberation in 1945, he was young, daring and convinced that better days were ahead. Today we’ve all experienced the awesome power of 2020’s solidarity, compassion and tenacity—which assures us that we can and will move through this moment and emerge stronger.”

If you know the history of the heritage behind the iconic house of CHANEL, you know that it was built as a means to give women the choice to embrace their closets for the lifestyle that they live in from day to day. CHANEL is able to merge visual texture aesthetics of phenomenal fabrications that incorporates menswear into womenswear. They integrate their core pieces of the jacket, a pant, LBD and infuse it with other styles that also lean into athleisure style. It allows each woman to dress it up and down as they see fit so that we can truly play in our closets as the ultimate in effortless chic.
This runway show is a beautiful film that showcases the models getting ready together behind the scenes as Diana Ross’ Do You Know Where You’re Going To? from Mahogany plays in the background in an intimate atmosphere of the Parisian club Castel. CHANEL’s FW21 collection designed and imagined by Virginie Viard is shown throughout and is directed by Inez & Vinoodh.
